For Pistol and Rifle reloading, students can use a single stage, as well as a progressive press - DILLON XL 650, Hornaday Lock-N-Load progressive. The Redding T7 Turret press is also available.
Each student will reload approximately 20 rounds of ammo which they will take home.
The MEC 9000G (28 gauge) is used for shotgun shell reloading.
In addition to training, we will assist you in setting up your reloading work bench when you are ready. In the meantime, our reloading room is available for honing your newly learned skills.
Reloading Student Feedback:
"Besides providing an excellent metallic reloading class, Ken gave me hands-on help with setting up my dies on the Hornady Lock-N-Load progressive press. Each die was put on the press and tested ensuring proper functioning. Once all the dies were working, we reloaded several rounds to ensure things were all working together. He also ensured that I fully understand (and practiced) how to set up and maintain the case activated powder-drop on the press. I highly recommend Ken if you wish to learn to reload." Can we save money with Reloading? There are 3 considerations:
1, Time – reloading takes time; this is one task you don’t want to rush
2. Initial setup costs
3, On-going component costs
2. Initial setup costs – Between $850 - $2000.
3. On-going savings on 45 ACP reloading:
Using 45 ACP as an example, what are the actual savings obtained from reloading.
Amount |
Reload |
Purchase |
Savings |
50 bullets |
$8.62 |
$23.99 |
$15.37 |
100 bullets |
$17.23 |
$47.98 |
$30.75 |
200 bullets |
$34.47 |
$95.96 |
$61.49 |
300 bullets |
$51.70 |
$143.94 |
$92.24 |
Savings, as you can see, are considerable and the initial set up costs will be recouped in a short period of time (depending on how much you shoot).
Note: There is cheap ammo always available but cheap ammo isn’t always the best ammo to put through your gun. Cheap ammo often jams and this can be very annoying / frustrating. This fact will be verified by actual experience. Also, the price of good ammo will continue to rise. There are many articles available on the internet that cover in detail some of the many benefits of reloading.
The Basic Reloading List is provided to students. This is an excel spreadsheet containing all of the intial items and components needed to get started reloading. The list can be easily customized to add or change calibers.
The Hornady Lock-N-Load AP Proressive press provides the students with a state ofthe art progressive press to reload pistol and rifle ammunition.
